The challenge!


The challenge posed for Learning for Living has therefore been to design a set of resources that engages unpaid carers, gives them the flexibility they need to accommodate learning and development in their busy lives, provides learning content and processes that engage them in self-reflection and personal development, and increases their self efficacy, enabling them to realise their value as valuable contributors to social and economic life within the UK and as potentially active participants in the labour market. Alongside this, the challenge has been to develop a learning and development programme that is supported by technology, accessible through the internet, remotely facilitated by online tutors, with remote formative assessment. In conjunction with the Learning for Living e-learning resources, City & Guilds has also developed a qualification called 'Certification in Personal Development for Unpaid Carers'. Learning for Living can be used as learning resource with or without the qualification.
