Guiding (initial advice and guidance)
  • Student completes initial questionnaire - to check the student's ability to complete the course in relation to baseline IT skills.
  • Explanation of the online course content and the requirements of the course.
  • Complete Individual Learning Plan.

    Registering
  • Initial registration details completed by student online (City & Guilds website).
  • College administrator 2informed of student interest by City & Guilds.
  • Student allocated to tutor by College administrator.
  • College application form completed by student with help from tutor (Carers Lewisham).
  • College enrolment form sent to Lewisham College Campus Office for entering onto college system.
  • On successful enrollment a Student Learner Agreement from is sent to tutor who passes it onto the student.
  • Student uses the Student Learner Agreement from to obtain college ID card.
  • The student is given a student pack that contains; Lewisham College Student Guide, Guide to the Learning Centres, Student Disciplinary Procedure, Student Complaints Procedure and Dyslexia Support Guide.

    Course attendance
  • Course induction run by tutor.
  • Student attends online course via a blended learning approach.
  • Tutor provides support online and face to face.
  • Activities provided by tutor to enhance student learning.
  • Periodic revision of learning goals and monitoring of student motivation and achievement.
  • Work marked by tutor and constructive feedback given.
  • Student entered for summative assessment by tutor who notifies Lewisham College's Registry department.
  • Results of summative assessment sent by Registry to tutor, who then passes the results to student.
  • Students informed of progression routes available by tutor and if required tutor directs the student to the College student Information department for further advice.


  • Tutor Training
    Prior to starting as an online tutor for the Learning for Living course
  • tutor given Lewisham College Tutor Toolkit which details tutor duties
  • tutor attends college Tutor Toolkit Induction
  • good practice guide given to tutor by college administrator
  • Learning for Living help Manual given to tutor

  • 1 The Information Centre offers advice to students about course content and entry requirements
    2 The college department that will be running the online carers course needs to be established.
    3 Administrator role would need to be established - do we employ an administrator? Is the role included in the Campus office administrator role? Does the function fall into the role of registry?
