As with many businesses, NEC has gradually integrated technologies into both back office and customer delivery operations and, in the case of education and training providers, has begun to integrate technologies into courses/resources.
NEC has used their website since 1997 to provide information on the courses/resources available. In 2000, they offered a few of them for purchase online, via an external e-shop service. Currently, their catalogues can be ordered online and online enrolment is available for some of their courses. More recently, they have commissioned an e-commerce solution to integrate the existing catalogue of NEC products; allow online catalogue administration and content editing by NEC staff; support on-line navigation and search of the NEC catalogue for both learning resources and complete courses and let users buy any resource online. This should be launched by early 2005. In the course of 2005, they propose to have full online registration for all courses; an integrated content management system for the catalogue; integration with existing accounts and warehouse systems and to use the online catalogue as the basis for paper-based editions.
