The role of the evaluator


A number of e-learning pilots have taken place as part of the ICCA project. In this particular pilot, the role of the evaluator was to be formative, providing ongoing feedback to the team as they prepared for the pilot, as well as conducting formal reviews with learners and the various stakeholders during and after the pilot. Any evaluation inevitably influences the processes under evaluation. Here the approach was one where during the planning stages, the evaluator set out to provide advice and recommendations to influence the pilot, but once it commenced, sought to step back and observe and collect information in preparation for this report.
