Preparing the tutor for the pilot and the discussion between tutors about their experience of tutoring the programme suggests that this group of factors might benefit from more reflection. Tutor skills profiles, tutor induction, on-going development, and resourcing may need to be given greater priority well in advance of roll out, not least because of their potential impact on the business model and take up.

There has clearly been an enormous amount of effort to ensure that the web content of the Learning for Living resources meet the developmental needs and has real resonance with unpaid carers. There are some areas that are unclear to date - which largely relate to knowledge of the learners skills and characteristics and are dealt with in the next paragraph.
Factors relating to Learners
Overall, the project appears to have successfully achieved an important success in terms of the content of the Learning for Living programme and its resonance with learners as well as the particular time availability and flexibility needs of unpaid carers. However, there are some issues that are unclear in relation to the guidance and support of learners in a wider roll out. Although some basic ICT guidelines were provided, more detailed information is required on the actual ICT tasks that a learner must be able to perform in order to use the programme. For tutors and learners, unambiguously spelling out what level of ICT skills (ability to perform and not just know about) is necessary prior to beginning the programme. In the case of those without this level of skill, someone needs to provide guidance and access to this skills development.
Although no formal English language and reading and writing levels are required to use the e-learning resources guidelines would be beneficial for learners, tutors and those working in carers' centres and other delivery channels and some recommendations given about what steps to take to confirm the prior literacy levels of learners and where to go for access to language and literacy development. ...continue to overall summary
