Lewisham College has been established as a Further Education college for over 60 years. Located in Lewisham (which has a population of around 250,000), it is a major employer and provider of education and training in the South East, with spending of around £27 million p/a. Student registrations are growing every year; in 2003, there were over 12,000 in total, with 4,000 full-time, 5,000 day part-time and 3,000 evening students. The college offers over 400 vocational and educational courses, most leading to a qualification. The college employs approximately 450 full-time permanent staff, with a further 250 contract staff.
