Two documents outline the college's strategic direction in the last decade. The first of these, Promising Prospects - Lewisham College's Strategic Plan 1997-2002, aimed to meet the needs of an existing and potential population of learners 'whose prior educational experience can, more often than not, be characterised by failure and inability to handle the future'. It aimed to use technologies to widen participation in learning among, to enable learners to achieve higher levels of qualification and skill, and to instil in learners a stronger sense of success. In order to achieve these aims, it proposed six interrelated platforms:- 'Ensuring effective systems of support.
- Promote lifelong learning.
- Innovate through partnership in access to and delivery of learning.
- Promote enterprise, higher levels of achievement, student centredness, and innovation.
- Invest in all staff.
- Promote ILT to enhance access to and delivery of learning.
The revised strategy, Pushing Prosperity: Side by Side (2003-6), aims to 'push prosperity for all our communities by widening participation in learning opportunities that enrich personal, cultural and social development and which will enable participation in economic life. The emphasis is on:
Access to learning
Success in learning
Progress from learning to destinations with prospects.'
Within this strategy, e-learning will be embedded across the college to support the achievement of these aims. ..continue to history of experience in integrating technologies to date
