Technology integration into every student's experience

By July 2002, the college would aim to ensure that 'every College-based student will have the opportunity to encounter ILT as part of their learning experience' and would be 'offered appropriate and comprehensive guidance and support in order to do so.'

'The way I see it, IT impacts on everyone's lives today outside of education. Using IT is a critical factor in motivating young people to carry on learning and to give them skills for the workplace. Doing so, also means we are supporting what employers need. The challenge for us is one of access - not everyone has access to IT and in the short term we have to say that access should not be either classroom or through IT - it has to be both. This is short-term expediency, necessary and resource intensive but not a long-term issue. I see IT offering really exciting potential in the classroom - helping enhance concepts visually for example, in administration, in QA - giving increased efficiency. It will contribute towards students taking more responsibility for their own learning and gives us opportunities to do assessment in new ways.'

- Geraldine Richards, Head of School
